Dr. Sami Ainane

Dr. Sami Ainane is currently the lead for Engineering for Social Change at the Center for Engineering Concepts Development (CECD), department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland. 


He previously served as associate professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Khalifa University (KU) from 2018 to 2019 and as Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering, Chair of the Department of General Studies and Dean of Student Affairs from August 2009 to August 2018 at the Petroleum Institute (PI) in Abu Dhabi, UAE . Dr. Ainane served as Director of Undergraduate Studies at the A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland from 1998 to 2009, as Adjunct Faculty and Faculty Director for Engineering Professional Development  at the University of Maryland Baltimore County Campus (UMBC) from 1989 to 1998 and Mechanical Engineer for EEC Consulting, Rockville MD from 1989-1995.


Ainane’s research interests include Erosion-Corrosion, CFD, and Engineering Education.


He holds a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Joseph Fourier University, Grenoble France, an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland. He is currently serving as a UAE-Stanford Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program Ambassador.
